It wasnt a trial, It was a lynching. This had nothing to do with the laws. Santiago himself said he's broken the laws multiple times. This was all about santiagos vendetta against louis and Armand trying to isolate louis from everyone he loves. No one in the coven is powerful enough to kill Armand. If he wanted to who would've stopped him from saving louis? Also, Lestat was summoned, he was just a pawn in this whole game which is why he did nothing when they were sentenced to death.

I loved Claudia and secretly wished she would survive somehow but her death is such a big part of who Louis becomes. The character has a really sad inspiration. Anne Rice's daughter Michele died of Leukaemia at the age 5. She created Claudia and had her die so she could put her grief onto paper.

This episode was devastating, I love Claudia so much and it comforts me to know that she was prioritized by at least one person in her life. In fact, this episode was peak gothic romance: Madeleine preferring to die rather than live without Claudia, Claudia holding her in her arms while they both burn to death... Sad, dramatic and romantic, Claudia really was the daughter of Louis and Lestat. And I don't think this is Lestat's revenge... We know how self-centered and performative he is, so he returns to the stage of the theater HE founded after decades and an audience of MORTALS is the one giving the sentence? I truly believe Lestat wanted visceral revenge but I don't believe he would do it like that, he could barely look Louis and Claudia in the eyes... Lestat would give that kind of revenge to an enemy he despised, not one he loved

Claudia is NOT a child, calling her that is wrong. That is the whole issue, she's a grown woman stuck in a teenager's body with teenage impulses and temperament. In the book it was worse because she was only 4 or 5 years old and needed an adult companion because of how tiny she was. She literally could not live on her own without an adult to help her maintain the facade. She wanted to leave Louis naturally the way young adult children eventually leave the nest, she just couldn't do it alone so Louis granted her leave by turning Madeline as she begged him to - much like the movie version except in the movie Claudia was turned around age 10 so Kirsten Dunst could play her. If you ask me, they made Claudia too old in the series because with some makeup and mature clothing so she could pass for a petite lady. In the book the vampires don't have sex, instead they have intimacy and companionship. However, I like that they do on the series 😊

Are you guys going to watch the movie after the finale? I'd be interested to see what you guys think of a slightly more book timeline version of the story... And you can see what changes and improvements that the show has made... Because I agree with a lot of other people that making Louis a black man was SUCH a interesting detail that adds so much richness and nuance into the story that just doesn't exist in the book or the movie.

Ok but this feels all RECTONNED. Now they show us Lestat POV. I mean shit. That fight was tramautic They blamed louis and claudia for not knowing Louis would be fine.ONE. it took 4 years. 2 Lestat never educated them. That's the point and the problem. That didn't know WHAT they didn't know. That's said. This is sad for all 3. I feel Claudia with her companion would have been better with Louis and Lestat. She had grown as person. They all acted thier asses off

I was in tears during Claudia's death scene. It tore me up. Look on Lestat's face said it all. Next week Louie's retribution. Can't wait. Best series on television right now.

❤Love you guys! From what I remember in the book Claudia was about 5yrs old and in the movie Claudia was portrayed a being about 10 yrs old. In the book and movie Madeline was a grieving mother who had lost her child to the plague so looked at Claudia as her forever child. In this series I think Madeline and Claudia’s relationship is more like big sister little sister.

Really hoping for season 3 and a adaption of The Vampire Lestat.

Please don't believe for a second Armand isn't controlling 90% of the happenings here. Lestat has bruises under that suit. Armand is a very possessive boyfriend. Lestat is straining against his power.

Lestat breaking ranks with his truth outbursts before being brought back under the 'control' were my favourite parts of this performance trial but, holy hell, was the rest of it painful! Loved the enlightening flashbacks, Santiago's sinister swagger, Madeleine's loyalty to poor Claudia, the creepy cartoon backdrop, and the agonising reunion between Louis and Lestat! Though very brief, one of the most meaningful moments for me was the defiant look Claudia gave Lestat after threatening revenge on the audience, and the look of pride he responded with! As always, I LOVE both of your reactions to this show, and appreciate how you listen to each other's opinions, even when you have contrasting views! Great job! I'm already mourning the period between the finale and S3 (hopefully)!

The way this show favor the Black is crazy. I was always fan of the Black more than Greens. But right now, I'm just want to be rooting for Greens out of spite to Show creators.

In the movie, Armand saves Louis from his tomb, and then Louis burns down the theater right after he killed Santiago. Lestat had nothing to do with saving Louis at the theatre.

I never got a sexual thing between Madeline and Claudia, in the show or in the books. In the books Claudia is 5 years old, but a brain of a 40 yr old. And in the book, Madeline just wanted a child to replace the one she lost, somebody to dress up. In the TV show, she saw a friend, a best friend.

The Claudia and Madeleine relationship is not canonically romantic. The doll maker they turned recently lost her daughter and was a mother figure for Claudia.

In the book, Madeline is a woman whose child has died. She sees in Claudia a child who cannot die. Claudia is a 5 year old in the book - mentally aged 75. Madeline is a grieving mother. Claudia is losing Louis to Armand and finds the unconditional love of a parent from Madeline.

This was a bit of a hard reaction to watch. some comments you made about Lestat's abuse of Louis and Claudia felt a bit avoidant of the real issue. The trial was all about painting the victims as the aggressors, as deserving of their fate. And if I went through what they went through I would also want to kill Lestat.

Claudia is 5 in the books 😅 📚!

Please remember that Claudia is actually a woman in her 40s. Many many fans found her and Madeleines love to be beautiful and true companionship that no other vampire achieved. It's romantic, equals, friendship, understanding, a haven and the only real "coven" either truly belonged to and felt understood and cherished. Claudia is OLDER than Madeleine and her biggest obstacle is that people keep infantalizing her in the show. And audiences do too which is extra sad because then audiences deny her true self as well.

Sam Reid was amazing in this episode! I really enjoyed your discussion. I think you both would enjoy his other show The News Reader. It's an Australian show and he's wonderful there as well. Different character from Lestat but equally complicated and entertaining.

I’ve never read the books but just saw the movie years ago but I don’t trust Armand. I feel he wanted to get back at Lestat and keep Louie to himself as well as get rid of Claudia. I’m sure he had a much bigger role in this “trial”. What I want to just discuss is how amazing this episode was from beginning to end. The acting was AMAZING!!!! It has been from S1 episode1. They definitely are worthy of all the awards and flowers. The show is top tier and deserves way more recognition. It’s coming for sure.. !! Thanks for the review guys. Love the channel 😊

After watching Newts Tale on UA-cam, I learned a lot about what happened before Ripely, and the soldiers arrived to help out. But I do wish Burkes death would have stayed in the movie too. His death in the comic book was perfect justice. But as always, the books have all the details, and the movies leave out.

Arryk was most definitely not a throwaway character for team green. He loved Aegon and was one of the strongest guards the black had. Christian was definitely stupid for that move. Otto leaving, Lary's killing most of the house staff, and Aegon killing all the rat killers. Oh plus they are taking from the people and aren't giving them anything back is just the first of team greens mistakes. Team black miscommunication, sending these children who are ill prepared for war to recon and go off into dangerous situations is going to bite them in the long wrong. Rhaenary's fighting with Daemon who is her strongest player plus sending his daughter into danger is her biggest mistakes so far as queen.

Armand is fucked up, he had Louis all by himself after Claudia got Madeline then why did he need to get rid of Claudia 😢

I haven't read the books, but in the books, I do know that Claudia is 5- years old and in the books, Madeline is not a romantic interest in the book, , she's a mother to Caudia. I think they just did that for the show, because Louis has a companion, he's had, I now two and Claudia had the last companion and Charlie, so they were trying to give her someone that she could love and love her for herself a real companion. It's definitely makes you look with a side eye, but Claudia is much older. At this point she's most likely a lot older than Madeline. And yes Sam Reid turn in a stunning performance. I still believe that Armond has allowed the full truth to be told. If you remember from season one Least didn't have a mark on him during the fight, whereas we see here he is just as beaten up as Louis. I believe it be in the 70s Louis was talking real reckless, too, Armand, after he bit Daniel. The drugs, didn't make him say those things, the drugs just allowed him to say what he was truly feeling without a filter. I don't think Paul was the only brother dealing with some mental health issues, seeing Paul die the way he did made him feel helpless, that's what he wanted Claudia to save her because he couldn't save his brother.

I think Lestat physically didn't have all his strength back to be able to save Louis in that moment. It's not that he didn't want to, Santiago and the rest of the coven had him dress up all nice but remember he is still recovering from the attempted murder. Also Delainey (Claudia's actress) confirmed in an interview that Claudia looking at Lestat at the end was her crying for help. There may be hate between them but there was also love, I think deep down Claudia always wanted to feel accepted by Lestat but never got it and the resentment turned to hate for her, but in her final moments, with Madeleine and Louis not with her, she turns to the only other person she trusts. It's heartbreaking to say the least, their relationship was always more fascinating to me than Louis and Claudia's and I wish we got to see more of it.

all I know about Alien and Predator is in the same universe and there's a huge timeline and the two mix into each other.

in the book claudia was forever stuck in a 5 year old's body and she actually had a romantic relationship with louis. they were described as 'paramours' and 'companions'. the books are good, but there's a lot of things that will make you raise your eyebrows and go 'huhhh??' when you read them, lol. i do also have to say though that the vampires in the books become completely asexual when they turn. that's a thing the show changed, but in the books when vampires are intimate they drink each other's blood, they don't have sex, they have no interest in it.

Claudia is a grown woman. She’s actually likely older than Madeleine. The beauty of the relationship is that Madeleine sees her as the woman she is.

Might be one of the best acted episodes of Television I've ever seen as a whole. Sam Reid was OUT of this world. This is the best reaction I've seen on this episode thus far. You two actually understand Louis was part of the problem. And was also abusive towards Lestat.(Using Lestats fear of loneliness as a weapon) Louis continues to be a problem to everyone around him. Lestat did actually care for her. You can see horror and relief when she is burnt. He tried to warn Louis.. Lestat mourns her in the books. Also... Lestat was captive during this play as well.

The only part that was kind of disgusting me about Claudia and Madeline's relationship was in episode 6. Louis asked if they've been intimate and Madeline said, "Not yet!" This episode broke me! Claudia was my favorite character (she was my fave in the movie also) and I knew it was coming. But part of me was wishing that they'd change the outcome. She went out like a G, though! She was the vampire that Lestat always wanted Louis to be.
